This is a difficult place to be.
One way to help this process is to engage with a specialised dyslexia tutor who is trained in SpLD (Special Learning Difficulties).  Across the country there are tutors who know the school curriculum and how to make that accessible for pupils and students.  The good news for parents is that those tutors are easy to track down.
