Announcing a new direction for The Studying With Dyslexia Blog with the SEND Group.

Arran Smith to continue the work of The Studying With Dyslexia Blog.

Eight years ago, I had the opportunity to spend a lot of time learning about Dyslexia and how to live with it within the educational, parental and technology contexts. This all came of the back of my daughter’s diagnosis and suspicions about my own neurodiversity.

I was fortunate to have received funding to start The Studying With Dyslexia Blog which was in essence my mechanism for learning and sharing what I had learnt about dyslexia. Overtime it became a popular independent resource for sharing dyslexia specific information for parents and practitioners across the UK and beyond.

During this period I became interested in the emotional impact of dyslexia and started to increasingly spend time supporting clients who wanted to improve their confidence and unlock their potential. Essential work which I am passionate about.

Also over this period, I struck up a friendship with Arran Smith, entrepreneur, Assistive Technology expert and event director. A much respected figure within the dyslexia community who’s journey with dyslexia and neurodiversity as a whole has been an inspiration to many, including myself.

I trust and believe in Arran and his work with the SEND Group. It is time for me to focus more on my work with emotional health and as a result Arran and The SEND Group are going to ‘take the baton’ and continue the work of The Studying With Dyslexia Blog with contributions from myself from time to time. This is taking effect immediately.

Some final comments.

In my time working on The Studying With Dyslexia Blog I have enjoyed many wonderful collaborations and made so many valuable friendships. I am not going anywhere in terms of the Dyslexia community but simply focusing on delivering a different service.

The Studying With Dyslexia Blog was started with immense support from my friends Bart Noe and Jo Cremelie at Jabbla, and I would like to personally thank them for their initial part in developing ‘the Blog’. I would also like to thank Arran for his continued support of my work and for taking ‘the blog’ forward, it means a lot.
