We are supporting The Dyslexia Show, Birmingham NEC,March 20th and 21st 2020
In this article I will share with you why I am supporting the launch of The Dyslexia Show, a new independent event taking place on the 20th and 21st March 2020 at the Birmingham NEC.
In the UK population and beyond the prevalence of Dyslexia is simply massive. The British Dyslexia Association estimate that 10% of the population is dyslexic with 4% severely so. It is a condition that without support limits the opportunities of individuals in school, higher or further education and in the workplace. It is classed as a disability and is covered by the Disabilities Act 2010.
In terms of other Special Educational Needs the prevalence of dyslexia is much higher.
Psychologist, Dr Nancy Doyle from Genius Within recently shared the following data in a webcast:
You can see from the above data that Dyslexia has very much leading in terms of prevalence in the UK (if we exclude the Mental Health prevalence figures) and whilst it is five times more prevalent than Autism it is often lacking in awareness across the UK compared to that of Autism.
So I am always keen to raise awareness and to be in support of those who are doing the same.
Today sees the launch of the Dyslexia Show, an independent dyslexia focused event that is taking place at the Birmingham NEC on the 20th and 21st March 2020.
The following is a press release announcing the event:
