Dear Supporter,

The Studying With Dyslexia Blog was started in 2015 by myself with the aim to provide information and inspiration to supporters of dyslexic learners.
As a parent of a dyslexic learner and as someone who knows how hard it is to fit into our education system, I was determined to share all the information that I can find that could help you whether you are a parent, a teacher or specialist tutor.
When I started I was lucky to have had the backing of an assistive technology company to support my time in writing articles.  I no longer have that backing and as a result, I update this blog in my own time because I am passionate about what I do.  I am fortunate that sometimes, I can get some income from organisations who want to help, but at the moment it is not covering my time.

Over the past couple of years, I have met a number of readers of this blog and your kind words and encouragement has made me even more determined to continue to share information and inspiration to my readers because I now know from your comments that what I do makes a difference.

Can you help me?

If you do believe that this blog has made a difference to you and that you would like me to continue to share information and inspiration regarding studying with dyslexia, then there are some changes that I would like to make to the blog which I hope will enhance your experience and these are:

  • Move the blog to a better blogging platform which will help me to utilise more multi-media i.e less text and provide a clearer layout.
  • Be able to make the blog more accessible i.e incorporate a screen reader, adjustable text size, changing page colour etc.
  • Be able to spend more time on generating more useful content for you.
To support me, please click here to go to my Spectacles Training & Coaching PayPal Page (Spectacles is my company name) and simply make a donation that works for you.

Every little bit helps large or small, but your contribution will not only help to support my work physically, but it will also be a huge indication from you that you like what I do and want me to continue.

How much should I donate?

I know I ask this question when I donate to organisations.

Let me give you a sense of my costs.

For me to write a post, I do anything upwards of an hour or two to research the topic, coordinate writers, and editing.  The actual writing of an article could take me an hour or two depending upon what the topic is.

Click 2 donate. Thanks!
I estimate that incorporating all my costs, it probably costs me about £50 per hour to maintain the Studying With Dyslexia Blog.

To do a day on the blog costs about £250.

If you are able to fund an hour of my time then that would be absolutely marvellous and I (with your permission) will list your name on the blog itself as a supporter if you make a donation of £50 or more.

Please note that I am not a charitable organisation and as such part of your donation will be a VAT payment.

Thank you for considering supporting my work in this manner, it will make a difference to thousands of people who support young people with dyslexia.

Best Regards,

John Hicks
