How we suppress genius and create learning difficulty.

This week's Dyslexia You Tube Video of the Week, comes from a TED talk by the world renowned martial arts expert, Scott Sonnon.

Scott overcame dyslexia so severe that he was hospitalized in a children's psychiatric institution. He was advised that he should not set very high his expectations of his potential. He went on to become a five-time world martial arts champion, award-winning producer and author, patented inventor, and fitness industry magnate. Scott was named one of the top 24 trainers in the world by Men's Fitness magazine, and one of the six most influential martial artists of the 21st century by Black Belt Magazine.

He attributes his success to discovering his learning style, a process that has in the past been so difficult for young people with dyslexia to have the space and time to do in the education system.

This video is amazing, be warned it is not an easy video to watch as he talks about the physical abuse he received as a child when being mistaken for being lazy when he simply couldn't understand in school. It is definitely worth a watch.
