On the 26th April 2019 I wrote a live blog during the APPG for Dyslexia and other SPLD’s meeting in Parliament. It was one of the first meetings where MPs were briefed on the ‘Human Cost of Dyslexia’ by Mollie King (Saturdays and Radio One), BDA Ambassador Jo Crawford, Grooops Counsellor Pennie Aston an Special Needs researcher Dr Helen Ross.
Yesterday the final report for the meeting was released by the British Dyslexia Association and it has been distributed to all of the UK MPs.
Please download the report, read the findings and please write to your MP to ask them to read the report and consider the impact of not acting upon the information presented. The report requests that there be more specially trained teachers who are capable of carrying out diagnostic dyslexia assessments, oversee and direct teaching whilst supporting provision.
Children in education with dyslexia deserve this support and if given, the benefits that they will bring into our society is immeasurable.
Please support this campaign to influence our politicians to act.
